How we work across Essex
The survey is free, the quote is written and the price is fixed: that is how every installation in Essex begins. We then manage the work from start to finish. Fitting is carried out by specialist installers under our management, phased so the operation keeps moving, and nights or weekends can be booked by arrangement. On the final day we test the equipment with you and hand over the operating and maintenance information.
For loading bay repairs at sites in Essex, you will always know the cost before anyone sets off. The visit is chargeable and its price is agreed in writing. Clear photos of the problem help the engineer arrive prepared. Where the visit reveals more work, we stop, explain and quote before going further, and a written report follows every attendance so you have a record of the condition of each item.
- How drivers are prevented from pulling away too early
- Wheel guide positions and yard markings for reversing vehicles
- Escape routes and pedestrian doors close to the bay
- How often each door cycles during a typical shift
- Headroom above the opening and which track type will suit it
- Wind exposure at the dock, which affects door and shelter choice
Regulations and approvals in England
Sites in Essex fall under the rules for England. Structural changes such as forming a new opening or a dock leveller pit may need Building Regulations approval, and external structures such as loading houses, canopies or new dock approaches can need planning permission from the local planning authority. We check what applies at survey and build any approvals into the plan.

Questions
Is the site survey in Essex free?
Yes. For new installations, replacements, upgrades, conversions and complete bays, the site survey and written quote are free and come with no obligation. The survey lets us measure the openings, check the dock and structure, and understand how the bay is used, so the quote reflects your site. Repair and servicing visits are different: they are chargeable, with the price agreed before anyone attends.
How long does installation take at a site in Essex?
It depends on the equipment, the number of bays, the condition of the dock and whether any building or electrical work is needed. We agree a programme with you after the survey, setting out which bays are out of use and when. Larger jobs are usually phased so that part of the dock stays open, and out-of-hours working can be arranged.
What is the difference between servicing and a statutory inspection?
Servicing keeps equipment working: cleaning, adjusting, lubricating and replacing worn parts. A statutory inspection or thorough examination is a separate check by a competent person, often arranged through your engineering insurer. Dock levellers are commonly inspected under PUWER at 12-month intervals, and lift tables may need LOLER thorough examination, depending on the equipment and how it is used. Your insurer or competent person will confirm what applies.
How much does loading bay work cost?
It depends on what you need. Our published guide prices run from £120 per dock bumper to £32,000 per loading house, and a complete bay with door, leveller, shelter and safety kit is typically £13,500 to £26,000 per bay, all excluding VAT. See the prices page for every item.
Tell us what is happening at your Essex dock, what equipment is there and when it is used, and we will suggest the right next step.
